How it all began

Love is friendship on fire  - Susan Sontag

“Well….It’s only 3 ½ years since my eyes met with Jon’s in the joiners Arms in Quarndon. It feels like an eternity away (not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing). I was drawn to his smile and his beautiful blue eyes but once I got to know him, it was his ridiculous sense of humour that sealed the deal! This was reinforced when I met his amazing family (also a little crazy!)

Jon has changed my life, and the lives of my family in so many ways over the last few years. He has been a fabulous fiancé, stepdad and grandad. The fact that he has retained an eight-year-old boy’s love of toilet humour has certainly appealed to Elsie-Blu and Albie.

Some of you may know that Jon proposed to me on the balcony of our hotel, overlooking the Aegean sea in Halkidiki. It was a wonderfully spontaneous proposal and Jon showed his resourceful side by getting down on one knee with a Haribo ring.

And the rest, as they say, is history!”

“Jo, you made me smile from the start and our first date was fantastic, leaving me longing for a second. The third date came quickly too….. We have so much fun together and the connection which sparked between us grew as we laughed, held hands and shared a cheeky kiss. We sat next to each other on our first date and we have been by each other’s side ever since. Luckily we share the same sense of humour which really comes out when we are on holiday. There’s never a dull moment so I thought it fitting to propose on holiday and having it planned to a T as I pulled out Haribo nervously asked if you would marry me……

Fun is always round the corner especially being enriched by two lovely grandchildren. I’m so lucky to have Elsie-Blu and Albie in my life, there’s nothing like a little person to brighten your day. It is wonderful how my family has grown.

Jo, you are my love, my best friend, my partner in crime, my everything. There is no other place I’d rather be than by your side.”
